A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to read from Nothing Has Been Done Before at one of Columbus’ literary powerhouses, Paging Columbus. The reading series moved recently to Two Dollar Radio HQ bookstore, thus the unicorn behind me in the picture below. Paging Columbus usually features poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, so I was thrilled to read the Kanye West chapter from the book, which is definitely the riskiest in terms of style and concept. Poets Rose M. Smith (from Columbus) and Phil Metres (from Cleveland) absolutely tore the roof off the joint with their sound and vision. On a night where the theme was timekeeping, it was compelling to hear how the written word can achieve such beautiful and precise musicality. Many thanks to Hannah Stephenson and Paige Webb for inviting me and to the great folks at Two Dollar Radio.
Thanks to Kathy Fagan, a terrific poet in her own right, for the photo. My wife and I were about to move out of our house, so I look about as exhausted as I felt.
